Ever try to reach overhead and feel that sharp pinch in your shoulder?

Or maybe you’ve had nagging shoulder pain that seems to show up when you’re lifting groceries, playing sports, or even just trying to sleep at night. Shoulder injuries are incredibly common—and just like with any joint in the body, ignoring them can make things worse.

I’m Dr. Stacey Rodgers with Rodgers Stein Chiropractic Center, and today I want to talk about what’s really going on when your shoulder is in pain—and how chiropractic care can help.

The shoulder is one of the most mobile joints in your body. It’s designed for a wide range of motion, but that also makes it more vulnerable to instability, inflammation, and injury. Rotator cuff issues, tendonitis, impingement, frozen shoulder—these are all things we see regularly.

And here’s something a lot of people don’t realize: the shoulder is closely connected to how your spine, especially your neck and upper back, are functioning.

If your posture is off—say you’re slouched at a computer all day or carrying tension in your upper traps—it changes the way your shoulder has to move. Over time, that leads to overuse and breakdown.

At our clinic, we take a whole-body approach. We start by assessing how your shoulder is moving, but we also look at the spine, because poor alignment can create abnormal movement patterns that lead to pain.

Chiropractic adjustments, combined with soft tissue therapy, targeted exercises, and sometimes cold laser or electrical stimulation, help reduce inflammation, restore proper movement, and actually promote healing—not just mask the pain.

One of the things I always tell my patients is: pain is your body’s way of asking for help. And when it comes to the shoulder, waiting too long can make recovery harder.

So if you’ve been toughing it out—hoping it will go away on its own—this might be the sign you’ve been waiting for. Let’s take a look, find the root cause, and build a care plan that gets you back to doing what you love.
