Welcome to Healthy Spine, Healthy Life. I’m Doctor Stacey Rodgers, and I’m so glad you’re here today. Whether you’re expecting a little one or you know someone who is, this episode is for you. We’re talking about chiropractic care during pregnancy. And honestly, this is one of my favorite topics to discuss because there are so many moms in the Conroe and Huntsville areas who just don’t know this is even an option for them.

So let’s change that today.

Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful, and let’s be honest, one of the most physically demanding things a body can go through. Think about it. Your center of gravity is shifting, your hormones are relaxing the ligaments in your pelvis, your posture is changing week by week. Your body is doing incredible work. But all of that change can put a lot of stress on your spine, your hips, and your nervous system.

Now here’s the thing. A lot of women just assume that low back pain and hip discomfort are just part of the deal when you’re pregnant. And yes, some discomfort is normal. But suffering through it doesn’t have to be. That’s where chiropractic care can make a real difference.

One of the biggest things I focus on with pregnant patients is pelvic alignment. When the pelvis is out of balance, it can affect the space available for the growing baby, and it can also put uneven tension on the uterus and the surrounding ligaments. Keeping the pelvis balanced and the spine properly aligned helps the body adapt more comfortably to all those changes happening so fast.

There’s also a technique I use called the Webster Technique. It’s specifically designed for pregnant women. It’s gentle, it’s safe, and it’s focused on reducing tension in the pelvis and the soft tissues around it. Many of my pregnant patients tell me they feel real relief after just a few visits. More comfort, better sleep, less pressure in the hips and lower back.

Now let me be clear. Chiropractic care during pregnancy is not about treating your baby or claiming to fix any kind of medical condition. It’s about supporting your body so it can do what it’s already designed to do. When your spine and pelvis are moving well, your nervous system functions better. And a well-functioning nervous system supports everything else.

Here’s something practical you can do right now, no matter what stage of pregnancy you’re in. Pay attention to how you’re sleeping. Side sleeping with a pillow between your knees takes a lot of pressure off your hips and lower back. Also, try not to stand or sit in one position for too long. Your body needs movement. Gentle walks, stretching, and staying hydrated all support a healthier spine during pregnancy.

And if you’re already experiencing low back pain, sciatic nerve pain down the leg, hip tightness, or even headaches during pregnancy, please don’t wait. Those are signals your body is asking for support. The sooner we address it, the better you tend to feel throughout the rest of your pregnancy.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is generally considered safe and is something I’m trained specifically to provide. Every patient is different, and I always take a thorough look at your health history before we do anything. Your comfort and your baby’s wellbeing are always the top priority.

If you’re in the Conroe or Huntsville area and you’re pregnant or planning to become pregnant, I’d love to sit down with you and talk through how we can support your body during this season. You don’t have to just push through the discomfort. There are gentle, effective options available to you.
