Tennis elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, is a common condition that causes pain and inflammation around the outside of the elbow joint. It is usually caused by repetitive stress or overuse of the muscles and tendons in the forearm, which can lead to tiny tears in the tissue. Tennis elbow is often associated with activities that involve repetitive arm and wrist movements, such as playing tennis or other racquet sports, but it can also be caused by other activities such as typing or painting. Symptoms of tennis elbow may include pain when gripping objects, weakness in the hand and wrist, and pain when extending the wrist or elbow.
Treatment for tennis elbow may include rest, ice, physical therapy, and chiropractic care. Chiropractic treatment for tennis elbow offers non-invasive and all-natural techniques to help alleviate pain and swelling in the area and improve healthy functioning going forward.
Yes, a chiropractor may be able to help with tennis elbow. Chiropractic care is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders, including those that affect the musculoskeletal system. A chiropractor in Conroe/Huntsville may also recommend changes to your tennis technique or the use of a tennis elbow brace to help manage the condition.
It is important to follow a chiropractor’s recommendations and to give the elbow time to heal properly. A chiropractor can work with you to develop a plan that addresses the underlying cause of your pain and helps you recover as quickly as possible.
Symptoms of Tennis Elbow
The most common symptom of tennis elbow is pain on the outer side of the elbow. This pain may be mild or severe, and it may be constant or come and go. Other symptoms of tennis elbow may include:
Weakness in the hand and wrist
Pain when gripping objects
Pain when extending the wrist or elbow
Tenderness or swelling on the outer side of the elbow
These symptoms may be worse when you lift or grip objects, or when you straighten your wrist or elbow. In some cases, the pain may be present even when you are not using your arm, and it may interfere with your ability to perform everyday activities.
Common Causes of Elbow Pain
Tennis elbow is more common in people who are between the ages of 30 and 50, and it is more common in men than in women. It is also more likely to occur in people who have occupations that require repetitive arm and wrist movements, such as carpenters, plumbers, and assembly line workers.
Tennis elbow is a common result of activities that may include the following:
Playing tennis or other racquet sports
The repetitive arm and wrist movements involved in these activities can put strain on the muscles and tendons in the elbow and forearm, leading to inflammation and pain.
Repetitive arm and wrist movements
Typing, painting, and other activities that involve repetitive arm and wrist movements can also lead to tennis elbow.
Improper technique when lifting heavy objects
Using improper lifting techniques can put strain on the muscles and tendons in the elbow and forearm, leading to inflammation and pain.
Poor posture can put unnecessary strain on the muscles and tendons in the elbow and forearm, leading to inflammation and pain.
Short Term Tennis Elbow Relief
In chiropractic care, “RICE” is an acronym that stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. These are the four basic steps that are often recommended to help manage pain and inflammation in the early stages of an injury.
Rest: The affected area should be protected from further injury and given time to heal. This often means avoiding activities that cause pain and using crutches, a brace, or other assistive devices to help you avoid putting weight on the affected limb or joint.
Ice: Applying ice to the affected area can help to reduce swelling, numb pain, and slow down the flow of blood to the injury. It’s important to not apply ice directly to the skin. It’s best to wrap ice in a towel or cloth.
Compression: Wrapping the affected area with an elastic bandage or brace can help to reduce swelling and support the injured joint or muscle. Be careful not to wrap too tightly, as this can cause additional swelling and impede blood flow.
Elevation: Elevating the affected limb can help to reduce swelling by allowing gravity to drain fluid away from the injury site. It’s important to elevate the limb above the level of the heart, so blood can drain away from the injury site.
It’s important to note that the application of RICE method should be done in the first 72 hours of an injury, and that if the pain or symptoms persist, you should consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation and treatment.
Chiropractic Treatment for Tennis Elbow
Chiropractic treatment for tennis elbow can involve a combination of techniques to help reduce pain and inflammation, and improve function in the affected area. One of the most common techniques used is spinal manipulation, which can help to improve the function of the nervous system, reduce pain and inflammation, and improve range of motion in the elbow and forearm.
Therapeutic exercises are also an important component of chiropractic treatment for tennis elbow. These exercises may include stretching, strengthening, and range of motion exercises that help improve function and reduce pain. The chiropractor may also provide specific exercises and activity modifications to aid in healing and preventing re-injury.
A chiropractor may also recommend orthotic devices or bracing to help reduce stress on the affected area and support healing. If you are experiencing tennis elbow pain, it is important to seek treatment from a chiropractor at Rodgers Stein Chiropractic in Conroe/Huntsville to get relief and prevent further injury. I am very pleased with the care and treatment I received at Rodgers Stein Chiropractor. Dr. Calhoun, Dr. Martha, Dr. Rodgers, Myles, Donovan, Spencer, Layla, Irma, and the entire team treated me exceptionally well throughout my time there.
The staff always made me feel welcome, and the reminder calls before appointments were very helpful. My treatment plan included Cox Table adjustments, ultrasound therapy, electrotherapy, Activator adjustments, and other chiropractic care that provided excellent value and results.
The professionalism, friendliness, and quality of care exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Rodgers Stein Chiropractor to anyone seeking chiropractic treatment and would gladly return if needed. Thank you guys!
I had Chonic back pain for years. They helped me become pain free and healthier. The staff are very friendly, caring and helpful with any questions you have. They work with you on your appointments with your busy schedules. They help people of any age. I would recommend them to anyone that want to get rid of pain. They also help with other problems also.
After years of headaches and countless doctors and specialists I finally came across doctor Rodgers and after a few weeks I feel better than ever and no more headaches. Highly recommend !!!!
I have been going to Rodgers Stein Chiropractic for a few years now<br>Dr. Rodgers, Dr. Martha, Dr. Calhoun and Dr. Murray are all amazing<br>Everyone in the clinic is professional and so polite - they treat their patients like family<br>100% recommend
I was in agony after pulling my back out in December, that’s never happened to me and as a person with a very high pain tolerance, I could barely function. I tried one place and felt worse, I found Rodgers and Stein, they treated me as a human and not a number in an assembly line. They did X-rays! And found the problem, the true injury that needed treatment! WE came up with a treatment plan and over time, I’m good as new! I still go for maintenance and entertainment from the wonderful staff. I highly recommend Rodgers and Stein if you’re in need. They are amazing!
I'm very happy with the results of the treatment that I have been receiving. I've noticed so much improvement since I've started. The entire staff is excellent! They been kind, professional, and always make me feel comfortable. I highly recommend them!
I just started seeing Dr. Rodgers, and I am very impressed. She takes her time and truly listens. She asks lot of questions to get a full view of her patient and takes x rays before making any rash judgements or manipulations. She really seems to care and I am so glad a friend recommended her!
Dr. Stacey and her staff literally gave me my life back after debilitating back issues. They focus on actually getting you healthy rather than resorting to drugs or surgery. You will be pain-free, and see quantifiable results that just aren’t possible with standard medicine. They have become friends and true health partners! Go!
I would not be walking today had it not been for Dr. Rodgers and her amazing staff! As a firefighter and a nurse, I am constantly finding new and inventive ways to mess up my back...and neck...and shoulders...well, you get the idea. Been coming here since 2009 and will continue to be a patient for my long term health and mobility!!!
Dr. Rodgers is well educated & experienced to help you with your pain. She is patient with my many questions & gives me great advice! She genuinely cares about her patients health. I highly recommend Rodgers Stein Chiropractic!
The office is very professional and I love that they get to know their patients. I have been very pleased with my treatments. I would recommend to anyone.
I came in after a fall and injury with my back and foot and this office has helped me out tremendously, they also got my daughter in to get her treatment on her back from sports injury.
I have been going to Dr Rodger’s for migraines. She and all her staff are very welcoming. My husband uses her for lower back issues. Go see Dr Rodger’s or Dr M or Dr Calhoun. Dr Murray in the Huntsville location is also a great Chiropractor !!
Have had the best experience here. My son is 15 and he is an athlete an although he looks like a grown man he is still a child. I wanted someone who was not only familiar with the pediatric side of things but with an athlete. My son plays baseball year round an puts a lot of strain on his body daily. He ended up having a pinch nerve in is neck all the way down to his tail bone. Rodgers Stein put him on a 12 week program that has helped him so so much. They are very thorough with the process. They take x-rays 1st, go over everything before they start treatment, and tell you where you should be by the end. They also do an evaluation in the middle to check progress to make sure you are on track. I would an have already recommended them to so many.
I can’t say enough good things about Rodger’s Stein Chiropractic! Last year, I was in so much pain that just worsened as the weekend went on. I requested an appointment online on Sunday, and crossed my fingers they’d be able to get me in. Imagine my surprise when Dr Rodgers called me on Sunday evening to let me know she could see me the next day. My X-rays showed I was in pretty bad shape, and I definitely felt like it. Fast forward a year, and I’m pain free, have increased range of motion and stability, and am working on flexibility. Everyone on staff is wonderful to work with, and I am so thankful for the care and attention I receive here!
So thankful this practice was able to take me in as a last minute appointment. I was in so much pain on Monday morning last month and they took my pain seriously. I have been consistently going to my appointments and so thankful I am healing well. Every staff, intern, and doctors are so courteous, encouraging, knowledgeable. Very blessed to be serviced at a compassionate chiropractic practice. And I am always greeted by name, definitely has a family and community vibe. One of the best decisions I’ve made for my overall wellness.
Do you have a great chiroprator? You need an adjustment? Go to Dr Rodgers..my back is well. I can do so many things I could not do a few months ago. You will NOT regret it! I promise!
All the Dr's and staff are so caring and upbeat, making me smile. Dr. Rodgers adjusted me and listens to your issues. I am so glad to have found her practice. Thank you Rodgers Stein Chiropractic.
Been going to Dr. Rodgers for many years. She has an amazing new Dr. there.<br>Dr. Calhoun. He is absolutely fantastic.<br>I have needed chiropractic care all of my adult life. Most are not helpful. Between Rodgers and Calhoun, I am covered.
I see Dr. Martha for pregnancy chiropractic care and she is absolutely amazing! Ethan and Preston are also excellent chiropractic assistants and they make sure each visit goes perfectly! Definitely recommend 🤗
I've never been before, but it was highly recommended. My first visit was great and I have my second tomorrow morning... Very friendly and polite staff.
We brought our 6 week old son in to see Dr. Rodger’s due to a traumatic birthing process, stomach issues and colic, with her corrective care plan for him we have seen a night and day difference in his digestion, mood and discomfort levels. Dr. Rodger’s is so knowledgeable, patient and attentive during each appointment, she is always willing to answer any questions we might have and takes her time with each patient as we never feel rushed during the appointment. Her staff is always welcoming and friendly as well!
My mum has been coming here for six years. She always talked highly of this place and of the people who work here. I had a serious leg injury early this year and after many drs and medications, my mum booked me in to see Dr. Rodgers. From the beginning, I’ve been treated with respect and I was looked at as a whole human rather than just my leg. She got down to business with checking my spine with the X-ray and explained everything to me. My L4 and L5 are very much in love apparently lol as they are right on top of each other and there’s no room at all for proper movement. She has taught me a lot and I’m very grateful for her and her team and the other Drs who have helped me like Dr. Martha and Dr. Murray (I can’t remember their last names. I’m very bad with names).<br>The environment and the people really make you feel so welcomed and apart of the family. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. And this says a lot because I NEVER wanted to go to a chiropractor because I was terrified of something going wrong, but there’s no need for worry because these guys are the best at what they do. I’m feeling much better and will continue to go here.
I've only been going to see Dr. Roger's for a few weeks now. But the pain has subsidized considerably. The staff is always pleasant and friendly. You feel as is they ALL truly want to help
This office is a total gem — and the staff is just as amazing!<br><br>I came in on a Monday for an emergency visit with zero mobility in my neck. I was in so much discomfort, but from the moment I walked in, everyone was kind, patient, and incredibly informative. I instantly felt like I was in good hands.<br><br>After my first session with Dr. Martha, I felt so reassured. (For context — I'm not a fan of people touching me, so that's saying a lot!) She made me feel comfortable and genuinely cared about helping me find relief.<br><br>At my follow-up, we went over my X-rays and talked through a treatment plan. It was thorough, easy to understand, and gave me a clear idea of the path ahead. I had my first therapy session and adjustment that day, and honestly... I almost cried with relief. By Friday — just days later — I felt fantastic and had my mobility back!<br><br>We still have some work to do, but I’m genuinely excited to continue. I would recommend this clinic to anyone and everyone. It feels like the healthcare version of Cheers — everyone knows your name, remembers little details about your life, and makes you feel truly welcome.<br><br>Even though it’s a busy clinic, every staff member takes the time to explain what they’re doing and why. It makes the whole experience feel collaborative and empowering.<br><br>If you're on the fence — go! You’ll be so glad you did
Knowledgeable, caring and thorough. Never gives up on her patients. Believes in restoring your health. We have been to several chiropractors. She has told us what should never be done because of my condition, of which the others did, because of their lack of thoroughnes in checking my condition. Experiencing much relief.
It is definitely worth the visit. Initially, the X-ray department and staff were exceptionally courteous and maintained a high level of cleanliness. I am confident that I will commence my treatment promptly once the doctor has identified the issue.
I was always so scared to go to a chiropractor until I saw one of Dr. Rodgers fb videos and saw not all treatments have to be popping and twisting. We talked prior to me coming in and we discussed my anxiety and she was so caring and just had the warmest personality and explained a treatment she could do that was gentle and no cracking.<br><br>I went years with severe pain in my neck, sciatic nerve and numbness/tingling and headaches. I went to serval different doctors who wanted to give me pain meds to supress the symptoms and not fix the root cause; this isn’t what I wanted. Since starting treatment in January those are all things of the past, I haven’t had to even take Tylenol once since treatment. It’s unbelievable.<br><br>Dr. Rodgers and all of her staff are amazing, I never thought I would or could be so relaxed at an office. It’s so funny my kids look forward to going with me and absolutely love Dr. Rodgers, the staff and good ole Big Tex, the schnauzer, it’s their home away from home. They will be patients as well here soon as she and Dr. Martha are both specialized in pediatric and pregnancy care. I want my kids to know healing and pain management by pharmaceuticals can be avoided and can be done naturally through Chiropractic care.<br><br>If you are having pain, headaches, numbness and any other body pains do yourself a big favor and go get seen. I regret not doing this years ago.
We started going to Rodgers Stein when our baby was 4 months old. He had just been diagnosed with torticollis & wasn’t responding well to PT. After a few weeks of treatment with Dr. Martha, he was a whole new baby. He gained strength in his neck & confidence to hit his milestones. Since then, our daughter, my husband & myself have all been treated by Dr. Martha. I truly cannot express how grateful I am for all the positive changes chiropractic care has brought to our family.
The best of the best here in Conroe! Dr. Martha and Dr. Stacy are magic makers! I experienced that when I was pregnant each week & currently after needing a hip realignment.
